Affordable homes for rural Pucklechurch
Between 2018 and 2021, BREE Construction delivered The Moorings at Pucklechurch near Bristol for LiveWest, a development of 38 affordable homes completed in 2021. The 4 million pound scheme provided a mix of 11 homes for affordable rent and 27 for shared ownership, broadening housing choice in a rural community where affordable supply is scarce.
The development formed part of LiveWest's wider rural delivery programme, which set out to bring hundreds of homes to rural areas over a two-year period. For Pucklechurch, the scheme offered both secure rented homes and a route to shared ownership, helping local people stay within their community.

A site with wartime history
The Moorings carries an unusual heritage, taking its name from a Second World War barrage balloon mooring site that adjoined the development land east of Oak Tree Avenue. The balloon-tethering site, used to anchor air defences during the war, sat at the centre of the scheme's narrative and gave the homes a distinctive sense of place.
LiveWest marked the completion as a historic housing development for the village, with construction having commenced earlier in the programme. The Moorings phase brought modern affordable homes to Pucklechurch while honouring the wartime story embedded in the land on which they stand.
The completed scheme was recognised within the region's residential property awards for the quality of its affordable housing, a careful piece of rural affordable delivery that drew on the history of the land it occupies.
