A Karbon scheme at Esh Winning
At Esh Winning, BREE Construction, then operating as Partner Construction, secured the Castlefields scheme, 66 affordable homes, for Karbon Homes. The development forms part of Karbon Homes' 18.5 million pound programme of affordable delivery across County Durham, adding new homes to the former mining village west of Durham city.
The scheme stood among the developments Karbon Homes was getting underway as it built out its early pipeline, reinforcing the housing association's commitment to affordable housing across the county. Esh Winning, with its strong community roots, gained a fresh supply of modern homes through the development.
A foundation for further partnership
The success of the Esh Winning Castlefields project went on to inform the partnership's later work for Karbon. When the contractor was awarded a 9.4 million pound contract at Murton in County Durham, the announcement explicitly cited Esh Winning as a prior successful collaboration, evidence of the trust built between client and contractor and of how the Castlefields scheme served as a stepping stone to a continuing programme of affordable delivery for Karbon across the North East.
Securing Castlefields gave the partnership a proven track record in the county, and the relationship it established has supported a continuing programme of affordable housing for Karbon. For Esh Winning, the development meant new, modern homes for a village with a strong sense of community and a long industrial heritage.
