New affordable homes at Pelton Fell
Karbon Homes appointed BREE Construction, then trading as Partner Construction, to deliver the Pelton Fell scheme at Chester Burn Close. The development brings forward 30 affordable homes at Pelton in County Durham, forming part of Karbon's 18.5 million pound development pipeline across the region.
The scheme was designed around a fabric-first approach, prioritising energy efficiency in the building envelope, and gained planning permission on that basis. Karbon Homes described the development among the affordable homes it was kickstarting as part of an early delivery programme intended to grow housing supply across County Durham.
Design and delivery
Architects JDDK developed the fabric-first proposals that secured consent for the new homes at Pelton, setting the standard for the scheme's energy performance. The development sits within Karbon's broader programme of affordable delivery, with the housing association referencing Pelton among the schemes underway in its first months of activity.
The 30-home scheme is a distinct development at Pelton Fell, complementing rather than replacing the wider affordable housing taking shape in the area, and reflects the partnership's focus on well-built, energy-efficient homes for local people. As part of Karbon's early delivery programme, Pelton sat among hundreds of new affordable homes the housing association moved to bring forward on a fabric-first basis. The result is a well-built, energy-conscious addition to affordable supply at Pelton Fell.
