Affordable homes in Filton
Between 2019 and 2020, BREE Construction delivered Rodney Crescent in Filton, a development of 17 affordable homes near Bristol. The 2.3 million pound scheme provided new-build affordable rental homes, replacing older non-traditional housing with modern, energy-efficient accommodation.
The development formed part of a wider regeneration effort in the area, with the site originally part of a programme to refurbish and redevelop post-war non-traditional homes that had reached the end of their useful life. The scheme brought forward fresh affordable housing in a settled residential neighbourhood of South Gloucestershire.
Regeneration and partnership
Merlin Housing Society was the original client and South Gloucestershire Council the local authority, with the scheme later associated with Bromford following the housing groups' coming together. Bromford lists the development among its regeneration portfolio alongside other rebuild projects.
The completed homes were welcomed as a boost for Filton, adding affordable rental housing in a location close to Bristol's northern fringe. New affordable rental homes came forward on Rodney Crescent, reflecting the scheme's contribution to local supply after its completion in 2020. The development sat within a long-running effort by the original housing provider to address its post-war non-traditional stock, with around 450 such homes earmarked for redevelopment across the wider programme. Rodney Crescent represented one part of that renewal in Filton.
