Affordable homes at Cotefield Road
At Cotefield Road in Wythenshawe, Manchester, BREE Construction delivered a small affordable housing scheme for Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. The development comprised around thirty-eight homes on a brownfield site, providing a mix of tenures including shared ownership, affordable rent and a small number of market-rent homes.
The scheme made use of previously developed land in Wythenshawe, contributing to the housing group's wider development programme. With a scheme value of around 4.58 million pounds, it was a focused investment in new affordable homes for the area, completed in 2016.
Homes and tenure mix
The development provided a balanced mix across the thirty-eight homes, with seventeen for shared ownership, sixteen for affordable rent and five for market rent. This range allowed the scheme to serve a variety of households, from those buying a first share in their home to tenants renting at affordable levels.
Built on brownfield land, the scheme required the redevelopment of a previously used site, bringing it back into productive residential use within an established Wythenshawe neighbourhood.
Part of a wider programme
Cotefield Road formed part of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group's development portfolio, sitting within a broader programme of new homes delivered across the area in the years that followed. The housing group has continued to bring forward new affordable housing as part of its ongoing commitment to the community.
As a compact brownfield scheme, Cotefield Road demonstrated how affordable homes of mixed tenure can be delivered on a modest site, adding quality accommodation to Wythenshawe's housing supply.
The Cotefield Road development is recorded within Wythenshawe Community Housing Group's portfolio of schemes delivered over its 2013 to 2021 development cycle, a programme that steadily increased the supply of affordable homes across Wythenshawe and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
