A build-to-rent collection in Salford

Middlewood Plaza was a 16.2 million pound build-to-rent development in Salford, delivered by BREE Construction. Brought forward through a joint venture involving the High Street Group and Grainger plc, the scheme provided 127 new homes within Salford's wider regeneration corridor, close to central Manchester and its transport links. The scheme was built by United City Living, the delivery brand under which the development was brought forward, as part of a wider build-to-rent pipeline in the North West.

Designed by Triangle Architects, the development was secured through planning, with approval reported for the scheme before BREE built it out as principal contractor. The completed development was handed over for operation as a managed rental community, adding professionally run homes to a part of the city seeing sustained investment.

A varied mix of homes

The 127-unit development offers a varied collection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments alongside townhouses and duplexes, giving residents a genuine range of layouts to choose from. This breadth of housing types suits a mix of households, from single renters and couples to families seeking more space within the regeneration corridor.

The completed scheme operates with a 24-hour concierge and a community app for residents, supporting a managed living experience. Specialist works during construction included basement waterproofing delivered by Westshield, supporting the lower levels of the development and ensuring the foundations of a durable building.

Programme and handover

The scheme was completed in 2019, reaching its sales pack and launch stage as the homes were handed over. From planning approval through to handover, the development was delivered as part of the High Street Group and Grainger build-to-rent pipeline.

Now in operation, Middlewood Plaza provides quality rental homes within easy reach of central Manchester and Salford, contributing to the ongoing renewal of the surrounding neighbourhood. Resident reviews following completion point to the quality of the managed living experience at the development, reflecting the standard delivered across the apartments, townhouses and duplexes.
