BREE Construction secures £75 million Build to Rent development in the heart of Manchester

BREE Construction (formerly United Living), the provider of infrastructure, housing, and property services, has been awarded a £75 million contract to build new residential apartments in Manchester's Northern Quarter.

Known as 1NQ, the Build to Rent scheme will be delivered through BREE Construction's New Homes business. A joint venture between Marco Living and Axis RE, the Tariff Street development consists of two new-build 10 and 12-storey apartment blocks, providing a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with private gardens, roof terraces and rooftop amenities. The development will also provide two commercial units on the ground floor.

Located in the heart of Manchester, the Build to Rent scheme is another step forward in the long-term regeneration of this part of the Northern Quarter. It will provide much-needed high-quality, new homes where people want to live and work as part of a mixed-use scheme in a highly sustainable, brownfield location. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Tariff Street is one of two projects that BREE Construction is currently working on in Manchester, which will deliver a total of 557 new affordable homes across the city.

We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to construct 261 Build to Rent homes. BREE Construction strives to create sustainable housing solutions with a positive impact, and this development will help address the housing shortage in Manchester. We look forward to working with Axis RE and Marco Living and delivering a project which supports the ongoing regeneration of the Northern Quarter.

Axis RE co-founder Nick Mullins said: "Manchester City Council's clarity of its strategic approach and direction within this area of the City Centre will enable us to bring NQ1 to life in what continues to be a particularly challenging economic environment.

"We are excited to be working with BREE Construction to deliver the project, and this deal is testimony to what we can achieve as a company and is another step forward in the long-term regeneration of this part of the Northern Quarter. Both parties share our vision for developing and delivering high-quality, sustainable and energy-efficient apartments."
