128 affordable homes for Midland Heart
Off Aviation Lane in Burton upon Trent, BREE Construction, then trading as Partner Construction, delivered 128 affordable homes for Midland Heart. The scheme, valued at around 17 million pounds, followed a successful planning appeal, with the Planning Inspectorate granting permission for the 128 affordable dwellings off Aviation Lane in October 2020 and unlocking the site for development.
The land was promoted by Inside Land alongside Partner Construction, with Inside Land taking the project through the planning process and into delivery. The development was then built out under BREE's M043 Aviation Lane site between April 2021 and 2024 on the DE13 9TJ site in East Staffordshire, following the council's site plan for the 128-home scheme.
Construction and community
The homes were offered to local people including through shared ownership, with two and three-bedroom houses brought to market by Midland Heart and promoted through its own sales material and national property portals. The range of homes made the scheme accessible to a broad mix of households looking to move into the town.
During construction, Burton MP Kate Griffiths visited the Aviation Lane development, recognising its contribution to high-quality housing in the area. The scheme formed part of Midland Heart's wider development drive as it worked toward a 4,000-home target, with an Aviation Lane construction image used to illustrate that strategy. By taking the site through appeal and into delivery, BREE helped unlock a substantial group of affordable homes for Burton upon Trent.
