A landmark development in the heart of Cardiff
Being at the forefront of the build-to-rent housing market, BREE Construction (formerly United Living) was instructed by Ridgeback Group to deliver a cost-effective high-rise scheme that will provide high-quality private rental homes (managed by private landlord Ila), where people want to live and work.
BREE Construction will create 432 one and two-bedroom residential apartments across two blocks of 15 and 8-storeys respectively, providing much-needed homes for local people. The development will also offer indoor and outdoor amenity space, a public square, commercial space on the ground floor and extensive landscaping.
Located in the heart of the Dumballs Road regeneration zone, the £55 million scheme will be key in delivering Cardiff City Council's Local Development Plan Strategy. Providing high-quality new homes as part of a mixed-use scheme on a vacant site in a highly sustainable, brownfield location.

High quality affordable homes
Both buildings will have private amenity spaces, including rooftop gardens (on the 8th floor of each building), ground-floor commercial space, parking and cycle spaces, and access to a gymnasium.
The scheme also includes vital low-carbon infrastructure, with electric vehicle charging points and solar panels contributing to sustainable development and helping Cardiff Council achieve its vision of becoming a carbon-neutral city by 2030.
Working closely with Cardiff City Council
With the development site located in a busy city centre location, we needed to manage the challenging logistics. Utilising our expertise and experience, the project team engaged extensively with Cardiff City Council to overcome logistical and developmental issues.
The site borders a busy main road, and constraints are very tight; we agreed to take partial ownership of the adjacent wide main road to allow for the easy management of construction traffic and delivery of materials, minimising disruption and allowing the scheme to progress smoothly.
The 15-storey building will be the first for Cardiff in this area, with most buildings no taller than 6-storeys. We have worked closely with planners to ensure they are happy with our proposals. The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2024.
